Run Dedication for Rachel Gregory

I have the privilege and honor of helping to celebrate a beautiful day in the life of a beautiful person. I dedicate tonight's 5.21 mile training run to Rachel Gregory on her 27th birthday! Rachel was diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) in 2010. PSC is a disease of the bile ducts in the liver that causes inflammation and obstruction of the ducts both inside and outside...which lead...s to cirrhosis of the liver, liver failure and liver cancer. The treatment for PSC is a liver transplantation. After her diagnosis, Rachel decided it would be best to move from Virginia to the Greenville, SC area to be closer to her mother. She then began the evaluation process for a liver transplant at MUSC (The Medical University of South Carolina), the only transplant facility in South Carolina. She was recently approved a second time for the transplant (it has to be done annually) on Dec 18th. She is on disability now and depends on fundraisers as well as the kindness of family, friends, and strangers in order to make ends meet. When Rachel gets her "new liver," she plans to marry her fiancé, Duane Whittle, return to working, and "live happily ever after!" I would like everyone to join me in praying for this brave young lady and her they celebrate another year, another day, another minute...and yes, another precious second. Thank you Beth for allowing me the honor in sharing in this special day with your family...what an honor! God bless.
