Run Dedication for Christopher Smythers

I have the amazing honor of dedicating today's 8.03 mile training run to the cherished memory of Christopher Wayne Smythers. He passed by the way of suicide in September of 2015, but his life will continue to live on in our hearts forever. We choose to remember all the beauty he brought to this world. He lived in Chaparral, New Mexico at the time of his passing, but Chris was formerly of Barren Springs, Virginia. He was a true hero as he served in the United States Army, and spent some time in the Persian Gulf. Please join me in sending our deepest thoughts and prayers out to all of his family and friends today. Please accept my run as a very small token of condolence to you all. Thank you Jamie for allowing me the opportunity of remembering your beloved brother-n-law on this very special occasion…his 35th birthday. We may never see his face again, but we will never forget how he made us feel when he smiled. Please share this post, and your most cherished memory of Chris' life in the comments section below. God bless.

  1. Thank you for honoring the memory of Christopher W. Smythers with your run. He is the son of my longtime girlfriend, Janice Lewis. He was often a guest at my house and we enjoyed many moments of just having fun. I was at his funeral in Virginia, one of the saddest days I can remember. Thank you so much for sharing. His mother, Janice, and his siblings, Travis and Carrie, appreciate what you have done.

  2. This is so special. I am speechless. Christopher is my son and I miss him so very much and love him forever.
    Please tell me more.
